I enjoy the Playoff brand.  They have a very good design group coming up with some very innovative ideas.  I didn't like the Tekchrome format as much as the Wild Card Chrome format, (notice I didn't say Topps), but Playoff proved that they were definitely a player in the hobby market.   The 1996 Playoff Contenders Pennants, (See the 1996 Playoff Contenders Pennants "Larry Centers" #18 below), was a very remarkable set.  Playoff set a precedence in the bobby with this set.  One of the truly memorable sets of the 90's in my opinion. 

 Another of my favorite brands has been the Playoff Contenders series.  The first being the 1994 Playoff Contenders set, (See the 1994 Playoff Contenders "Irving Fryar" #5 below).  The card displayed a very nice action photo with a touch of the Tekchrome format, but the grass bottom border was a nice touch.  The back had a nice large photo with a good write-up.  I think the only thing missing were stats.  I need stats!!!

The 1997 Playoff Contenders Absolute, (See the 1997 Playoff Contenders Absolute "Mario Bates" #24 below) was also a great set.  It revolves around the player's hometown and high school football accomplishments.  Definitely interesting and new.  Playoff did not stop there, they continued to come up with innovative sets like the "Contenders Tickets" and "SSD" sets that the hobby has just embraced.
