Its too bad the collector got burned out on this brand.  I would have to give Pro-Set the credit for restarting a Football Card revolution.  With Pro-Sets crisp new design, nice durable card stock and brilliantly designed lay-out on the front and back gave it an edge in the hearts of collectors in the late 80s and early 90s, (See the 1989 Pro-Set "William Perry" #47 SP).   But that fire quelled as the market was flooded with this title.  Even some of the cards in the set such as the NFL Newsreel, American Bowl cards even the Pro Bowl cards got boring real quick and turned the fan away.

Even though the fans may look back at Pro-Set as a mistake, Pro-Set has two truly remarkable sets that are very rare.  Try finding the 1988 Pro-Set Promo set or the 1994 Pro-Set Promo set.  Remember,  Pro-Sets first and last sets were in 1989 and 1993, respectively!!

Pro Set did leave its mark on the hobby, it was the first brand to have a totally borderless card, (See the 1990 Pro-Set "Henry Rolling" #312 below).  It also did the unthinkable, it got Topps away from those cardboard stock trading cards.
