If there is one company that is truly in the drivers seat as far as design Innovation / card art it has to be Upper Deck. A couple of my favorite Upper Deck sets are the 1995, (See the 1995 Upper Deck #143 Eric Swann below), and 1997 series. The 1995 Upper Deck series was so grand that they brought that set back in 1997 as the Upper Deck Legends series. Do they look Similar? Upper Deck is always impressing me with new designs and artwork that leave all the others trying to keep up. I seems to me that collectors will always pay to dollar for Upper Deck products than they will for others. However, with all the praise that comes UDs way there is one small problem and every collector knows about it. Upper Deck has a horrible, (and I mean Very horrible), collation problem. I bought about 3 and a half boxes in 1998 and I was still unable to attain Quentin Coryatt. Quentin Coryatt? A common card. Upper Deck can say whatever they want, but it boils down to greed in my book. Buy more boxes! That is exactly what their trying to tell us. Below I list my Upper Deck collection and at the very bottom of the page is my Upper Deck trade list. Please check them both out. Well this list is going to be very short being that their is only one set listed. However, I see great things coming for this series. I really enjoyed the rookies cards from this set. The trampoline shots are memorable, (See the 1997 UD3 "Joey Kent" #12 below), and the "Eye of the Champion" cards were not fully noticed until put up to a light source. Again Upper Deck's designers did an outstanding job laying the groundwork for a great series for years to come. I just hope they allow you to put a BASE set together without having to buy 10 boxes.
